Our P&L chapter invites you to the seminar 'Autonomous Operations', on 12 December in Antwerp!
The rise of the “Internet of Things” has made our operations field more connected and autonomous than ever before. We will deep dive into understanding the latest trends in terms of digital connectivity and autonomy. What are the latest trends, algorithms and applications? Will we transition towards fully autonomous and digital operations? Or, is there a limit?
The objective of this seminar is to bring you up to speed with the latest advancements within autonomous operations, with a focus on the Internet of Things as an enabler to support this (r)evolution. Hosted by ‘The Beacon’ –an innovative smart community hub in Antwerp –we are proud to present two distinguished speakers: Professor Peter Hellinckx from the University of Antwerp and Louis-Robert Cool, CEO of Seafar NV. They will deep dive into the latest trends while showing an application of autonomous sailing in the Port of Antwerp.
The first speaker is Professor Peter Hellinckx from the University of Antwerp. Prof. Hellinckx is an expert in Distributed Artificial Intelligence systems for systems that gather data using the Internet of Things and Cyber Physical Systems. His main application domains are autonomous driving/shipping, logistics, mobility, Industry 4.0 and smart cities. Prof. Hellinckx will elaborate on the latest research trends within his field, and his experience working with practitioners on these topics.
Louis-Robert Cool, CEO of Seafar NV will then demonstrate how to put theory into practice. Seafar NV is a ship management company, developing technology to operate crewless vessels for inland navigation. Via the Shore Control Center, multiple unmanned vessels are monitored and operated by a shore captain. By doing this, Seafar is providing an answer to the shortage of crew in the inland shipping sector and increasing operational efficiency. Louis-Robert will introduce this showcase and share his experience about how to transition towards more autonomous operations.
We look forward meeting you all there!
